Addiction to Pornography

The majority of people with this problem are men, but women also can be affected. If you find that pornography is having a damaging effect on your life and you want to change, and despite all this you keep using porn, then you might like to think about what is going on.
Porn and feeling good
The very idea of accessing pornography starts you looking forward to it, you tell yourself you want some more, and you become aware of a very agreeable feeling. So the idea is now affecting your neurology.
And then your neurology moves you on to another feeling; that of feeling that you simply must open a magazine or watch a video or spend time surfing. When you access porn some of the tension that has built up is released. At a certain point, when you have had enough, the desire dies down and you move on to other things. And then the idea of pornography starts to build again.
Some people find that they are spending more and more time doing this, to the extent that it interferes with their life and their livelihood. Some people will even lie to their partner about what they are doing. People can have intense feelings of guilt about doing this, and make serious efforts to stop. And yet they find themselves continuing to use pornography, driven by the good feelings that the thoughts produce. This is what we call an addiction to pornography
Automatic behaviour pattern
This is habituated behaviour. Somehow you have acquired an automatic thought process, involving imagination and good feelings. Your imagination builds up desires that lead you into behaviours. If you stop associating porn with the good feelings, then you remove the drive known as addiction to pornography.
Training your imagination
We deal with such automated patterns by showing you how to control your imagination, rather than succumbing to it. You can learn to use your imagination as a tool to keep you free of addictions.
We use hypnotherapy and NLP in combination. We can show you how to make use of NLP to help you consciously change your thought patterns. We make use of hypnotherapy to communicate indirectly with your unconscious mind through the use of metaphor and story, and to communicate directly by use of suggestion.
Addiction to pornography removed, quickly and easily
The combination of NLP and hypnotherapy and a direct approach to the problem provide for a rapid treatment. The aim is to get you back in control, to de-automate the pattern that gives rise to the addiction.
Symptoms
Someone with pornography addiction may well have some of the following symptoms:
- Preoccupation – Preoccupied with porn (e.g., preoccupied with planning pornographic experiences)
- Tolerance – Needs more in order to achieve the desired excitement
- Loss of control – Has made repeated unsuccessful efforts to control, cut back or stop
- Withdrawal – Is restless or irritable when attempting to cut down or stop
- Lying – Lies to family members or others to conceal the extent of involvement
- Risked significant relationship – Has jeopardized or lost a significant relationship or opportunity because of pornography
How long will the treatment take?
We usually require between one and three one-hour sessions to treat the addiction to pornography.
